An art exhibition opened at Younan Art Gallery, SIP on Oct 18, bringing together art works by five Chinese and Russian artists to lead the viewers to explore the “l(fā)anguage of materials”.

The exhibition features sculptures, installations and other forms of art that highlight the concept that materials are not merely media but also a language itself. It also reflects Suzhou’s growing inclusivity as a vibrant cultural hub.

The exhibition is designed to break through the constraints of media with individualized conceptual languages and rich material experimentation, exemplifying a new paradigm of thought: new artistic possibilities should be created within the interstices of cultures but not in the pursuit for the opposition of differences or simply layering of materials.

The exhibition will last till Dec 7.
